About The Photographer
Nolan Nitschke is an aspiring photographer based out of Boise, Idaho with an exceptional eye for
the unbelievable.
Nolan Nitschke was born in Redlands, California and raised in Bishop, California, a small town nestled
in the Owens Valley. To the east of this valley ly the White Mountains, home to the Ancient Bristlecone
Pine Forest with the oldest living organism on the planet. To the west of this valley towered the mighty
Sierra Nevada Mountians with Mt. Whitney (14,505 ft) tallest mountian in the continental United States
and Yosemite National Park. As a boy his father instilled in him a strong relationship with nature and
the need to understand survival skills in the wild. It was not until three years ago that the
photography of Galen Rowell and Ansel Adams inspired him to pick up a camera himself.
"I had been to the majority of the places that Rowell and Adams had photographed in the area but had
never seen their photos. I saw the beautiful lighting and subjects and how they captured them in such artistic
ways I had to try myself. Ever since that first day I went out hiking specifically to take photos I haven't
been able to stop. There is something so fulfilling about venturing into the wilderness in the name of art."
Today Nolan is a student at Boise State University pursuing his degree for a Bachelors of Fine Art Graphic
Design. When he is not in school he is out exploring the American west with his trusty Nikon by his side.
Most recently his exploration has taken him to the amazing canyons of Utah and the jagged peaks of the
Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho.
